Transit to Trails Initiative
Cape Ann Trail Stewards, in conjunction with the Cape Ann Transportation Authority (CATA), Mass in Motion, Essex County Greenbelt, The Trustees, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), local municipalities, and other conservation organizations, has created a Transit to Trails initiative that connects public transportation with some of Cape Ann's most scenic trail networks.
By identifying designated CATA bus stops near trailheads, the initiative makes it easier for residents and visitors to access hiking trails, conservation areas, and coastal parks without relying on a personal vehicle.
Explore by Bus
Ten designated trail access stops have been identified along CATA routes in Gloucester and Rockport. Trailhead signage and bus stop markers help riders connect between public transportation and nearby trails.
