Fare Free Service Continues Through 2026

Ride CATA for Free

The Cape Ann Transportation Authority (CATA) is pleased to announce that fare-free service has been extended through the end of 2026 for nearly all CATA transportation services.


Whether you're commuting to work, shopping, traveling to medical appointments, or exploring Cape Ann, you can continue to ride CATA without paying a fare.


Included Services

Fare-free service applies to:

  • All year--round fixed routes

  • Seasonal summer shuttle services

  • Senior Dial-a-Ride

  • ADA Paratransit

  • Ipswich Medical Bus

  • Dialysis Transportation

  • Beverly Shuttle*

  • Mall Bus*

*Services available where applicable.



CATA On Demand

CATA On Demand is not included in the fare-free program.

On Demand rides remain $2 per trip.

For more than 50 years, CATA has connected residents and visitors throughout Gloucester, Rockport, Essex, Ipswich, Hamilton, and Manchester-by-the-Sea with safe, reliable public transportation.

Funding

Fare free service is made possible through funding provided by the Massachusetts State Legislature and administered through grants by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).
