Who is eligible for Dial-A-Ride?

How do I apply for Dial-A-Ride Services?

Complete a Dial-A-Ride application and submit it to CATA. Riders 60 and older must provide proof of age. You may find more information and the application here.

How far in advance should I schedule my ride?

Reservations may be made up to one month in advance. Most communities require at least one or two business days' notice. Please refer to your community's service information for specific reservation requirements.

Where can I travel using Dial-A-Ride?

Trip destinations vary depending on your community. Most riders may travel for medical appointments, shopping, errands, social activities, and other everyday destinations. For specific information visit our Our Communities page and check your town's Rider Guide!

Is Dial-A-Ride available outside my community?

Some communities offer transportation to neighboring towns and regional destinations. Please review your community's service area for available destinations.

How much does Dial-A-Ride cost?

Dial-A-Ride is currently fare free through December 31, 2027. Future fares are subject to change.

What happens if I miss my ride?

Please cancel at least 60 minutes before your scheduled pickup. Repeated no-shows may result in a temporary suspension of service.

Is ADA Paratransit or Dial-A-Ride right for me?

Accepted Answer

Dial-A-Ride serves adults 60 and older as well as eligible adults with disabilities.

ADA Paratransit is specifically for individuals whose disability prevents them from using CATA's fixed-route bus service.

Some riders with disabilities may qualify for both programs. If you're unsure which service is right for you, call 978-283-7916 and we'll be happy to help determine the best option.

What if I have a complaint about ADA service?

What if I'm ready before my scheduled return time?

Accepted Answer

Because rides are scheduled in advance and shared with other passengers, return trips generally cannot be moved earlier. If your appointment ends sooner than expected, contact dispatch and CATA will do its best to accommodate you.

Are the vehicles wheelchair accessible?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All CATA vehicles, including all vans and buses, are wheelchair accessible

Can someone ride with me?

Accepted Answer

Personal Care Attendants (PCAs), companions, and service animals may travel with eligible riders. Please let dispatch know when making your reservation.
